The Tam O’Shanter is one of Los Angeles’ oldest restaurants, swinging open its’ merry old Scottish themed doors in 1922. The building is extremely dark and rustic, in a fairy tale way. It was said that every piece of timber used in its construction was thrown in the fire first!
The ye olde decor, and walls decorated in tartan seem a perfect accompaniment to the very traditional meat inspired menu (if you’re a vegetarian, I hope you were dreaming of a salad)
Walt Disney was a big fan of the Tam O’Shanter, and you can ask to sit at his table (* things we wish we’d known BEFORE we visited)
The restaurant is very pretty from the outside, with beautiful flowering gardens, a great neon sign, and a vintage English phone box.
We went for lunch, but our neighbor Tommy told us it's a great place for brunch and a Bloody Mary if you “happen” to be hung over. From the cool dark interiors, and well stocked bar we saw, I imagine this to be completely true.
