The beautiful historic Moana Surfrider Hotel is home to a secret museum, hiding on the second floor of the hotel, and free and open to the public.
The tiny museum is loaded with vintage ephemera from the hotel, vintage Hawaiian showbiz history, tourism and travel, and a comprehensive collection of vintage movie posters featuring films shot in Hawaii, or with Hawaii as their subject.
The museum also screens vintage footage of Waikiki and surrounds.
Outside the museum glass cases house more about the history of the Surfrider, and beside those is a secret balcony complete with rocking chairs, where you can take in the sea breeze and watch the world go by.
A fun little stop when you find yourself in Waikiki, but sshhhh - its's a secret.
