Kindles Donuts

Writer's picture: Grant GuyGrant Guy

Kindles Donuts, built in 1950, began its life as the very first store in the Donut Drive-In Chain.

The Donut Drive Ins all had an adorable mid-century stand-alone store, with a drive thru, and a walk-up window - oh, and a GIANT donut on top of the building.

After the chains demise the stores were sold off to individual operators.

Although Randy's Donuts is the most famous of the remaining giant donuts, Kindles scores points for serving their own version of the giant donut. They call it a Texas donut. It resembles the donut on top of the building and it’s as BIG AS YOUR HEAD!
