When Glitter Gulch, on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, was demolished, it seemed the world had lost two of Las Vegas’s most iconic signs - Vegas Vickie, and the Golden Goose. Luckily both were saved, and the Golden Goose, complete with cowboy hat, bandanna, and nest of golden eggs, now resides as public art on Fremont Street, not far from his original home.
Although he was sitting still admiring one of his golden eggs when we visited, rumor has it the golden goose usually twirls in a circle, revolving on top of his amazing original Golden Goose text-based sign. He also lights up at night and his golden eggs twinkle!
A plaque has also been placed beside the golden goose explaining its history. We’re egg-static the Golden Goose has been saved and restored - it’s eggs - eptional!
