Burlesque Hall of Fame

Updated: Aug 8, 2022

If you love sequins as much as I do, then the Burlesque Hall of Fame is a must visit.

And any museum that celebrates sparkly underpants and feathered fans and has a wall full of sequined pasties is OK by me.

The Burlesque Hall of Fame was founded by stripper, burlesque performer and pin up model Jennie Lee in the 1960’s. In the decades since, the collection has grown to include costumes, stage props, photos, and loads of fascinating ephemera. Highlights of the collection include Gypsy Rose Lee’s travelling trunk, and Dita Von Teese’s giant martini glass.

The museum is quite small, but packs a lot in.

When we visited, we were the only ones there, but we were still given a detailed tour of the first half of the museum, which covers the early years of burlesque, and then left to wander around among the props and costumes on display.

The Burlesque Hall of Fame is closed Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and you will be given a time to arrive. You will be able to see everything, including the tour, in about an hour.
