This decaying Flintstones themed park is one of our greatest finds ever in the history of Roadside Wonderland.
Hanna Barbera’s "The Flintstones", with its guest stars ranging from Ann Margrock to Stony Curtis, was a prehistoric 60’ss cartoon about neighbors The Flintstones and The Rubbles. Before The Simpsons came into our lives, it was the longest running cartoon in TV history.
Bedrock City, built by Francis Jerome Speckels, was originally opened in 1972 and I’m pretty sure 1972 is the last time any maintenance was carried out. It closed briefly in 2019, but these days it is incorporated into a conservation park called Raptor Ranch, and a camping ground. Originally the park featured a few rides and a cafe, but now the crumbling buildings, statues and artwork are pretty much all that remain … but those things, all with an adorable low fi home-made feel, are Flintstone fabulous!
You can’t miss Bedrock City with its giant YABBA DABBA DOO sign, Fred Flintstone, and Flintstone-mobile standing by the highway. You enter the park via a convenience store, pay your $10 and then you are left to explore the park at your leisure. We were there for at least 2 hours and we never saw another living soul - heaven
Bedrock City is roughly 3 acres of vintage charm and nostalgia. There are photo ops for days, and don’t forget to slide down the back of the giant brontosaurus before you leave - OG Fred Flintstone style!
